Hi Glenda,
I love this beanie! So hard to find an adult hat med with garter stitch, with ribbing. My question to you is can you make this without a seam or no jogs? I do long see that in your instructions.
Hi Mindy, I’m so happy you like the hat! The hat is knit in the round, so there isn’t really a seam. The indent comes from the change between the knit rounds and the purl rounds – as you move the yarn front from the front to the back (and vice versa), it twists on itself and makes it look like there is a seam. I’m not sure if there is any way to avoid that – you could maybe try slipping the first stitch of every other row, and see if that would balance it out? There are several ways of avoiding a jog in the colour stripes, but I’m not sure if it works for alternating knit and purl rows.
